Light steel villa has excellent structure, short construction, high space utilisation, energy saving and environmental protection, but the maintenance requirement is high and the market awareness and norms need to be improved. (i) Superior structural performance

Light steel villa has excellent heat preservation and insulation performance, and the heat preservation materials used for its wall and roof, such as polystyrene foam board and rock wool, have good heat insulation performance, which can effectively stop the transmission of heat. In winter, it can reduce the loss of indoor heat and lower the heating cost; in summer, it can block the entry of outdoor heat and reduce the frequency of air-conditioning, thus achieving the purpose of energy saving. According to statistics, the energy consumption of light steel villas can be reduced by 30% - 50% compared with traditional buildings.

Good environmental performance: 

Light steel villas have less impact on the environment during production and construction. (i) Relatively high design and installation costs

As light steel villa is a new form of construction, its design and construction require professional technicians and teams. 

Compared with the traditional building, the design cost and installation cost of light steel villa are relatively high. Designers need to carry out professional design according to the structural characteristics and mechanical properties of light steel villa to ensure the safety and stability of the house; 

installers need to be professionally trained to master the installation process and technical requirements of light steel villa to ensure the construction quality.


(ii) Higher post-maintenance requirements

Rustproof treatment: the main structure of light steel villa is steel, although steel is generally treated with rustproof treatment before leaving the factory, it may still be rusted by the influence of external environment in the process of long-term use. 

Therefore, light steel villa needs regular maintenance of rust prevention, such as painting anti-rust paint. If the anti-rust treatment is improper or untimely, it may affect the structural safety and service life of light steel villa.
